Diablo IV Expansion Pack
Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred
Release Date: October 8, 2024
The first story expansion to Diablo 4, a 2023 action RPG by Blizzard Entertainment. Vessel of Hatred continues the base game's storyline, offering Nahantu as a new region to explore. We can also play as a completely new Spiritborn character class.
Vessel of Hatred is the first story expansion for the action RPG Diablo IV, released in 2023. It was created by the American studio Blizzard Entertainment, just like the "base game".
The story in Vessel of Hatred begins shortly after the events of the finale of Diablo IV. It focuses on the character of Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred, who together with Diablo and Baal forms the Unholy Trinity.
The expansion takes us to a new region – Nahantu. It is located near the city of Kurast, where we fought Mephisto in Diablo II. This is an area covered with dense jungles, featuring numerous waterfalls and unique buildings, evoking associations with Aztec architecture (like terraced pyramids serving as temples).
The Vessel of Hatred expansion offers new ways of playing the game, which are primarily provided by the previously unavailable character class - Spiritborn. He is a kind of shaman who can harness the power of four jungle beasts in the form of a jaguar, gorilla, eagle, and centipede. We can complete the entire game when playing as a Spiritborn character.
Except for the new class, Vessel of Hatred add-on does not deviate too much from what base Diablo IV offers. The game mainly involves performing main and side quests, during which we face hordes of monsters. As a reward, we receive experience points, an appropriate number of which translates into experience levels, providing increasingly powerful skills.
The Vessel of Hatred add-on is not included in the PC/Xbox Game Pass subscription service. Subscribers can buy it at a discount and enjoy its content, even if they do not own the "base game", which is included in the subscription.
Vessel of Hatred is a non-standalone expansion, which means that in order to run it we must have the base version of Diablo IV.

Game Ratings for Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred Video Game.
GameSpot: 8 / 10 by Alessandro Barbosa
The Vessel of Hatred expansion meaningfully expands on the content offered by Diablo 4 with the game's most exciting class and captivating spins on the dungeon-crawling formula.
TheSixthAxis: 6 / 10 by Gareth Chadwick
Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred is a bit of a disappointment. After the story finishes, it feels like little has changed, though the structural systems of the game have had some upheaval. You hit max level far quicker now and, once you do, the fun of looting will evaporate for all but the most hardcore and dedicated loot hunters. Meanwhile, there's spam to buy loot in the chat constantly, the party finder invariably puts me in parties where my lower level character is useless and dies to a sneeze from a passing asthmatic, and the big co-op endgame dungeon doesn't really seem to understand what Diablo is. Why doesn't it seem to understand? Because this is an MMO, not Diablo.
Digital Chumps: 9.5 / 10 by Nathaniel Stevens
Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred from Blizzard is a worthy expansion that adds more than it subtracts. It continues a great story with compelling characters, introduces a new class, returns mercenaries, and provides additional content, making it more than just a simple DLC release.
