Season of Witchcraft in Diablo 4 kicked off with a bang. Blizzard offers free week and biggest discount yet
A free trial version of Diablo 4 with the Vessel of Hatred DLC and a big discount are expected to encourage players to check out the Season of Witchcraft.
The new season of Diablo 4 is another opportunity to try the game for free. Blizzard Entertainment is once more allowing us to test both the base game and the expansion, but this time only Battle.net users on personal computers can access them for free.
Players can try out all available classes (including the Spiritborn from Vessel of Hatred) and advance them to level 25. Free Diablo 4 will be available until January 28, until 10:00 a.m. PT.
It's also worth noting the sale that allows you to buy the standard edition of Diablo 4 or a bundle with DLC at a 45% discount in the Battle.net store. For the first one, you will pay €27.49, and for the bundle €41.99. These are probably the lowest prices for these items in history.
Season of Witchcraft better than at Blizzard's showcases?
As we already mentioned, the free week at the Sanctuary coincided with the start of the seventh season of Diablo 4. Witch motifs and literal headhunting games take center stage, and players have been given many improvements. Nevertheless, some fans still had doubts about how the Season of Witchcraft would turn out.
So far, less than 24 hours after the start of the season, it's still too early for final conclusions, but for now, players seem to be positively surprised by the new Season in Diablo 4. They still have concerns about the endgame (as it remains almost unchanged), but for now, many people are having fun hunting down fugitive heads or exploring a new dungeon.
There are also many mentions of improvements, including almost mass-dropping legendary loot and the announced abolition of the need to unlock class powers for each character separately. Of course, as always, these changes have both supporters (praising the "accessibility" of the current version of Diablo 4 - in more than one sense) and critics (complaining that the game is too easy). Not everyone is enthusiastic about the whole season, but for now, they appear to be in the minority.
Nevertheless, many players believe that paradoxically, the Season of Witchcraft turned out better than we could expect from Blizzard's presentations (which probably reflects badly on the developer's shows - unless they deliberately wanted to pleasantly surprise the fans?). We will see if this enthusiasm lasts at least for a few weeks (or maybe until the end of the season, although the chances for that are slim).
