How to install and acquire upgrades?
You can modify your vehicle in the briefing menu before going on the expedition. After selecting the car, press the "Customize" button on the garage screen. From the available tabs, select "Upgrades" from where you will be able to customize selected aspects of the truck by selecting the appropriate parts from the list.
From the list you can also buy new parts for your trucks. Some items will be available for purchase immediately. Others require you to complete a specific expedition before you can equip them. You can view the unlocking conditions by selecting the part you are interested in, marked with a padlock icon.
An alternative way to obtain upgrades is to discover them while exploring the world. You can recognize this type of collectibles by the gear and arrow icons. The obtained upgrades will be waiting for you in the garage.
Vehicle stats
Each truck in Expeditions is described by 3 basic statistics:
- PWR - describes the power offered by the truck's engine in relation to its weight;
- Strength - the vehicle's overall resistance to difficult conditions and damage;
- Fuel consumption - the amount of fuel used by the machine while driving.
Installing new parts and modifying existing ones will affect the value of basic statistics. In an ideal scenario, all of them will be balanced, but in the context of specific missions, it may be worth considering sacrificing one of the statistics to significantly improve the others.
Engine
Basic element of a vehicle. Upgraded units can significantly improve the power of the truck, which, however, often results in a significant increase in fuel consumption. If you decide to install a more fuel-hungry model, take an extra supply of fuel with you on the road.
Gearbox
The available options may differ in the number of gears, the way they are synchronized, the operation of the low mode or the impact on fuel consumption. Before purchasing and installing, familiarize yourself thoroughly with the description of the given gearbox and take a look at the changes on the chart of basic vehicle statistics.
Suspension
The suspension will primarily affect the feeling of driving off-road. Choose it individually for each mission. For example, if you expect a lot of treacherous and sharp boulders protruding from the ground along the route, it may be a good idea to install a raised suspension to increase ground clearance.
Tires
A very important element that drastically changes the way you drive a truck. Tires in Expeditions have been divided into 3 categories:
- Off-road;
- Mud;
- Universal.
The first group will be perfect for the default, mixed terrain. Most models should also be able to handle rocks. Mud tires, on the other hand, are adapted for driving through deep marshes. They will work great on marshy terrain, but they will have a big problem with keeping traction on rocky ground. The last type are tires that should provide balanced performance on any type of surface. Use them if you are not sure what to expect on the route.
Winch
An extremely useful tool in the hands of every off-roader, which will often allow you to free yourself from quite a predicament. More expensive models have a longer cable and a more powerful motor.
Differential lock
This element cannot be modified, and its availability depends on the specific vehicle model. Locking the differential and engaging low gear will help you during steep climbs and crossings through the most difficult terrain.
Snorkel
An ingenious pipe system that moves the air intake much higher. Installing this element will allow you to drive in high water without fear of flooding and damaging the engine.
