What kind of game is this?
Small studios seem to love roguelike games – this is another production in this line-up that draws from this genre by the handfuls. It's hard to be surprised, however, because the interesting development of this simple idea does not require the effort of hundreds of people, as just proved by two developers from Thorium. They've given us UnderMine – a roguelike, in which we play a miner dreaming of riches hidden in the depths of a mine full of dangers.
What made the players like this game so much?
Although UnderMine lacks any specific innovations that distinguish it from other works of this type, this didn't prevent the creators from winning the hearts of many players. They mainly praise the well-executed elements that define any roguelike – such as balanced gameplay, interesting way of presenting the main characters, and, of course, numerous available combinations of items and skills, which allow you to assume different styles of play. What's particularly praiseworthy is the system that replaces the protagonist with a new character after each death, allowing them to take advantage of the previously accumulated resources.
