BPM: Bullets Per Minute Description
BPM: Bullets Per Minute is a dynamic FPS enriched with solutions taken from rhythm and roguelike games. The game was developed by the independent British studio Awe Interactive and the source of inspiration for its creators were cult shooters from the 1990s.
Plot
BPM: Bullets Per Minute takes us on a journey into the world from Nordic mythology. In the course of the game we take on the role of a Valkyrie, whose task is to defend Asgard (mythical land of the gods) from the invasion of creatures from Helheim (in Scandinavian beliefs - a place inhabited by the dead).
Mechanics
Before we start playing BPM: Bullets Per Minute we choose one of five Valkyries, which are differentiated according to individual skills and a set of strengths and weaknesses. In the course of the game, however, we deal with traversing gloomy dungeons which are generated procedurally and eliminating hordes of enemies. What makes this game so special is the need to act to the rhythm of a fast, rock soundtrack; this applies to shooting at enemies as well as jumping, reloading weapons or making dodges.
Various minor enemies stand in our way as cannon fodder and seven bosses, whose defeat opens the way to the final battle. We put the enemies in the ground, making use of an extensive arsenal of firearms including revolvers, machine guns, rifles and rocket launchers. It is complemented by special skills like teleportation or freezing targets, as well as by items scattered around dungeons providing us with various buffs.
Technical aspects
The strength of BPM: Bullets Per Minute is undoubtedly a fast, rock soundtrack. However, the distinctive, bright colours of the design may also appeal.
