What kind of game is this?
The same people who gave us the Goat Simulator, i.e. the small Swedish studio Coffee Stain currently employing about 30 people, served another wacky, satisfying game. This time we got Satisfactory, an economic game based on similar principles as Factorio, in which we go to an alien planet, our job being to build an automated factory. The game is distinguished by entertaining, first-person perspective, and fully three-dimensional graphics.
What made the players like this game so much?
Factorio already proved that even a seemingly simple idea for gameplay, like building your own automated factory, can turn out a genuine thriller. The developers at Coffee Stain decided to take these ideas to a slightly more elaborate world and dress it all up in pleasing, 3-D graphics. This game was available exclusively on Epic Games Store for a year, only to eventually be released on Steam as well, where it continued to enjoy considerable popularity. The recognition of the small studio and the resulting high confidence of players, as well as the addictive formula, allowed Satisfactory to find a large audience.
