What is Hellish Quart?
Sir, stop! These simple words underline what Hellish Quart is about in the simplest way. This is a 3-D brawler game, where we will duel using a variety of 17th century melee weapons. If you always wanted to feel like a nobleman taking part in a honorable duel, then Hellish Quart will provide you with similar thrills.
What will Hellish Quart offer?
Kobold studio seems to have set their hearts on showing the most realistic duels. So, not only the weapons or outfits of our warriors will be consistent with the history, but also the style of fighting and movements of the characters. There will be various cuts and thrusts available, constituting a rich array of moves and styles. The weapons are supposed to react in a visceral way to what is happening, for example changing position upon contact with the other blade. Who will be the available characters? Well, the Cossacks, Hussars, Tartars and French Musketeers has been confirmed so far, so we'll get quite a diverse array of characters to play as.
Our expectations
The atmosphere is quite familiar, the gameplay harks back to the good old Bushido Blade – on paper Hellish Quart looks great. Too bad it looks kinda crude, budgeted and, well, perhaps boring. Even against other budget brawlers like Fighting EX Layer, Omen of Sorrows, and Skullgirls. I would love to be wrong on this one, but I'm not holding my breath.
