Rustler is an action adventure game that resembles the first two-dimensional parts of the famous Grand Theft Auto series from Rockstar Games - with the difference that it is set in medieval age (suffice to say that the creators themselves call their work Grand Theft Horse). Jutsu Games, a Polish company known for 911 Operator, is responsible for the development and release of this title.
Plot
The player takes on the role of a medieval criminal who tries to earn a living in a feudal society and at the same time not to lose his head under an axe. It is worth noting that the game is in fact a parody - we will not find here credibly reproduced medieval realities. However, there is no shortage of humour and references to pop culture.
Mechanics
In Rustler we observe the action from above - from the top-down or isometric perspective (depending on the camera setting at a given moment). As our hero, we explore an open world, perform tasks (we accept them from other criminals, as well as from nobility, merchants or corrupt guards) and commit various crimes - steal horses and money or attack merchants on tracts.
We often have to fight using both ranged (bows, crossbows) and melee weapons (swords, axes, spears and even... pitchforks). The combat style requires from the player mainly agility and quick reactions. The game by Jutsu Games also enables us to ride a horse and manage several vehicles (carriages).
Game modes
Rustler can be plaed solo or with others. The mainstay of the game is the single player mode, but the developers also took care of an online multiplayer module, within which we can fight in PvP mode.
Technical aspects
Rustler features pleasant, three-dimensional visuals. The models of characters and environment present themselves decently. Also the animations leave nothing to be desired. It is worth noting that the title has a rather uniqueatmosphere, and it is also brutal (e.g. there are animations presenting dismemberment), although due to the perspective used by the developers, violence is not very suggestive.
