Hellish Quart Description
Hellish Quart is a three-dimensional fighting game in which we battle using 17th century cold weapons - including sabres and rappers. The game focuses on a realistic representation of such clashes, as well as the historical realities on which it is based. The Polish independent studio Kubold is responsible for developing and publishing this game.
Plot
Hellish Quart takes place in the 17th century, in the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (also known as the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth).
Mechanics
Hellish Quart is a rather unusual, three-dimensional fighting game, which in terms of gameplay is closer to the little-known Bushido Blade series than, for example, the Soulcalibur series. This game focuses on realistic representation of duels using cold weapons. The effect is achieved, among other things, thanks to properly prepared animations and an advanced physics system - the latter is responsible for the calculation of damage (the effectiveness of blows depends on which part of the body we hit an opponent).
In Hellish Quart, the four buttons on the gamepad are responsible for attack directions, while combinations allow you to make a series of different cuts and perform special moves. When we don't attack, our character automatically tries to defend against blows from a rival - with the weapon actually coming into contact with each other and changing position. The key role is to bring out the cuts at the right time.
Among the available characters you can find Zaporozhian Cossacks, Hussars, Tatars or Musketeers of the Guard.
Game modes
We can play Hellish Quart alone or with others. The game offers a feature campaign, Arcade mode and local multiplayer mode.
Technical aspects
Hellish Quart has very nice, three-dimensional graphics. Both the models and locations show a strong commitment to detail, realism and historical accuracy - such an effect was achieved through 3D scanning technology. The animations that have been developed using motion capture technology deserve special attention - thanks to this, the characters move smoothly and reliably.
