Hellish Quart Gets Early Access Launch Date

Polish fencing game Hellish Quart finally got a release date. For now, only in early access on Steam and GOG.com, but the work from the studio founded by one of the animators of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available soon.

A lot of time has passed since the announcement the Polish fighting game Hellish Quart. However, devs at studio Kubold, founded by Jakub Kisiel (who has animated Geralt in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt) has not been idle for the last six months. On the contrary, it constantly publishes new materials from the game on YouTube. The last video posted by the developer revealed some important information. Hellish Quart will be available in early access on Steam and GOG.com on February 16.

At first glance, Hellish Quart may seem like a typical "rough" work of a debuting studio. However, the game is far from being an amateur project. Already in November, we could see the care taken by artists using motion capture and three-dimensional scans of actual costumes and armaments from Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth of the 17th century. Further materials only confirmed the team's ambitions. However, if the videos alone aren't enough to convince you, for some time now, the game's free demo (weighing 1.2 GB) has been available on Steam and GOG.com. In theory, it even enables us to fight with random players across the Internet, although only via a third-party app called Parsec (after installing the program, we search for Hellish Quart, right-click on it and choose "Make the Game Public").

Of course, as usual, early access will not enable us to enjoy all the attractions planned by the developers. As we read, for now the game includes 5 out of 12 prepared arenas and unique fighters (and there may be even more of the latter eventually) and only a sample of the cinematic story campaign. The process of balancing the game, creating a complete soundtrack, etc. is still in progress. Probably that's why Kubold doesn't even bother to give an expected release date of the full version of Hellish Quart.
