AA-class dev teams have it rough these days, but Spiders somehow managed to find a place for themselves in this difficult environment by specializing in medium-budget role-playing games. Their productions, which include Mars: War Logs, Technomancer and Bound by Flame, have suffered from a lot of technical shortcomings and at times a bit striking budget constraints. At the same time, they could not be denied many interesting ideas and interestingly created worlds, thanks to which it was easy to lose oneself in them if one turned a blind eye to some problems.
Greedfall more or less matches this formula, although it must be admitted that in comparison with its predecessors, it is simply a better game. There are less mistakes and budget cuts here, and the world creation came out even better than in an average game from Spiders. While the beginnings can be tedious here, with a bit of perseverance, we will experience a game with great plot, interesting main and side quests and companions, whose stories are no less intriguing than the main storyline.
The game takes us to Teer Fradee, an island where the on-going conflict between the native inhabitants and several factions of invaders from "New World" burns bright. Navigating the diplomatic water between the numerous factions, we engage in the aforementioned story quests, fight numerous battles and progress our character in the way we choose. Although many people maliciously compare Greedfall to the "wooden" Gothic with all its issues, in fact the game has more in common with The Witcher 3, only made with a noticeably smaller budget.
