Dream Engines: Nomad Cities is the first game in our review that really goes beyond the classic city builder convention. It's kind of a meeting point of last year's Mortal Engines with They Are Billions-style gameplay.
DREAM ENGINES DEVELOPERS ABOUT THEIR GAME:
Dream Engines: Nomad Cities takes the popular survival-management genre and adds an interesting twist - what if your entire city could fly? With a flying city, you always have new areas to explore, new interesting places to discover, and rare resources to exploit. Dream Engines adds rogue-like and survival elements to the city-building genre, creating a unique and challenging experience, that takes place in a wacky steampunk world full of strange science and dreams.

In the first stage of Dream Engines we build the city, but we are focused on ensuring strong lines of defense more than on management of production. After a while, the game enters a phase reminiscent of tower defense, and the opponents, spawned en masse on the map, proceed with a full-blown siege of our fortifications. If you're in dire straits at some point, and our lines are breached, we can... launch the engines and leave, moving the city to another place.
The whole gameplay revolves around this interesting concept. In order to secure a possible route to escape, it is necessary to take care of the correct level of fuel and raw materials, so our decisions on subsequent investments must take account the risk of a hostile invasion. On the other hand, when the worst comes to worst and we have to fight, the situation will require our constant attention, since a hasty escape will entail the need to leave behind part of the infrastructure that's not mobile. It's hard to say at this point how the idea for the game will actually work, but the potential seems huge.
