- In a nutshell: an alien hunts soldiers in asymmetric multiplayer mode
If it hadn't been for Predator the movie, the modern pop culture would certainly lack this monumental character of horrible alien. The Xenomorphs wouldn't gain deadly enemies in the form of Yautia youngsters who hunt Aliens in order to prove their skills and become an adult. Let's leave this topic for later, because Hunting Grounds developers intend to prove that it is possible to prepare a game with an asymmetrical multiplayer mode which won't discourage players after just a few deathmatches. The game designers of Illfonic Games studio have a lot of experience in preparing such type of video games, including Friday the 13th: The Game as one of their major titles. One Predator has to fight with a group of commandos, using several canonical gadgets to exterminate his enemies, including the famous optical camouflage.
Many fans would probably prefer to play a single-player Predator game. Unfortunately, the only title which is going to include a single-player campaign is the upcoming Predator VR game, developed by Fox and Phosphor Studios. Maybe it's due to the fact that most titles which used this license have turned out to be a rather mediocre games. Apart from the AvP brand and mobile games, the last title set in the Predator universe was Predator: Concrete Jungle from 2005, in which we played the role of a young Predator who tried to recover the advanced Yautia technology stolen by people. It's rather easy to guess that the second Predator movie, in which Danny Glover as lieutenant Mike Harrigan was chasing a Predator in the middle of Los Angeles, served as main inspiration for the authors of this video game.
Predator: Hunting Grounds is not the only game currently being developed on the basis of a popular brand. FoxNet VR Studio, which is owned by Fox studios, has launched a new project – the Predator VR video game. This title is going to use the HTC Vive virtual reality headset. Phosphor Studios, a Chicago-based team specializing in VR projects is responsible for the title. Interestingly, unlike the Hunting Grounds, this game will offer a full-scale single player campaign taking place both in the jungle and in the Siberian secret base.
