Far Cry 2. Games full of bugs that players loved anyway

Table of Contents

Which faction do you belong to? Those who fell in love with Far Cry 2, or those who couldn't bear its terrible technical condition and design errors? Some players have already got the first sequence of the ride to the hotel in a crumpled form with characters who, as they play their scenes, jump, fly into the sky, or shake their heads as if fending off obnoxious flies. There were also bugs that literally prevented players from continuing the game, leaving some with no chances of completing it.

Many of these bugs were eventually fixed, and the rest had to be taken care of by modders. Meanwhile, gamers already managed to "jaw" the game on Metacritic, giving it an average score of 5.9/10. It weren't just technical problems. Some suggested that his game consist of a 2-hours-long gameplay copied and pasted countless times.

Personally, I think these allegations are grossly exaggerated. True, Far Cry 2 was actually too big of a game. The vast map was not filled with enough content. But it was also a wildly ambitious project, testing a new approach to gameplay and the design of the open world itself. In the end, the flame of love towards Far Cry 2 was lit inside the hearts of gamers only when the creators abandoned their work and added "three" to the title.

Am I just suggesting that Far Cry 3 is the same game? Nonsense, of course, but the second installment made for one great testing ground allowing the developers to create a great continuation, then another one, in my opinion even better. This, unfortunately, was followed by the mediocre "five".

As you may remember, Far Cry 2 showed very realistic African landscapes. During the production process, the creators actually went to Africa to see what it should look like in their game. Later, developers traveling to countries they wanted to recreate in their games became the norm.
