Gamedec. RPGs for pacifist runs ☮

Table of Contents

If you've recently gone through Disco Elysium and are looking for an isometric RPG that would be similar, Gamedec seems to be an almost perfect choice, although it differs from the Estonian masterpiece in many respects. Here, however, you will also get a lot of internal monologues, playing the role of a detective with issues (a "gamedec" – game detective) and you will have the opportunity to have a true, role-playing experience without the need to get into any fights.

It is also worth adding that this is another Polish title set in the realities of cyberpunk, specifically in futuristic Warsaw. It was based on a series of SF books by Marcin Przybylek – the author also prepared some additional materials especially for the game. We travel through various digital worlds set in modern video games, so we have to dig up lootboxes in a western-themed farm simulator or talk with unicorns and gangs in a rather dark erotic thriller.

The creators had countless ideas for their game, and over time, these formal games turn into an ambitious philosophical-existential treatise on distinguishing reality from fiction. The script sometimes seems confusing and pretentious, but in the end, Gamedec is an intriguing and, most importantly, original title.
