- Is killing everyone one of the goals of the game? No
Playing in the post-apocalyptic world of the first Fallouts was supposed to be devoid of any rules – after all, who could enforce them? We could play a noble gunslinger, a femme fatale saving the world from poverty, a strict and ruthless warrior who cares only about his own interests, a vagabond, or finally a total psycho, destroying everything and killing everyone.
The game doesn't make any of these less feasible than others. Feel like slaughtering a village that may still contain a few quest-related people? Feel free. Want to kill your companions – why not? You can even blow off the head of your spouse, a faithful canine companion, or even the bad luck creature that had an insane amount of HP!
The creators wanted to check what activity would be the most exciting for players. It turned out that most of them didn't choose total destruction, cooperating with the NPCs more often than slaying them. Despite this, Bethesda stuck to their guns and also included the possibility of killing anyone in the third and fourth installments of the series. Well, almost everyone, but more on that later.
