On this guide page, you will learn how to properly and effectively build up an attack in EA FC 24 and perform counter attacks that end with a ball in the opponent's goal. We describe action building, positional attacks, and counter attacks.
Ball control
To effectively control the ball in EA Sports FC 24, you can use a special mode (L1/LB) and the left analog, allowing the player to maneuver and control the ball smoothly. Remember that using this technique deplete your stamina. Ball control mode allows you to avoid opponents and move more efficiently on the field.
Midfield control
Midfield is where you should play extra carefully and not haste when making decisions because the opponent may take advantage of your mistakes to make a quick counterattack. Try to play smooth, confident passes and slowly attack your opponent's midfield while waiting for the opportunity to launch wingers and strikers.
Player lock
The player lock (L3+R3) allows you to give up control of the player with the ball to AI, so you can switch to any other player and receive the pass with him. However, make sure that there is no opponent in the area ready to intercept the ball before you decide to do it.
Calling a player
Calling a player (R1/RB) is a technique that allows you to call another player from your team to pass him the ball or fake a pass and confuse the opponent. The called player will respond to the command and signal that he is ready to take the ball.
Running-in player
You can also use the player run-in mechanic, which will allow you to position the selected player where you intend to make the pass (L1/LB). If you accidentally select the wrong player, you can get him back to his position by moving the left analog stick and pressing R1/RB.
Run-in pass
In EA FC 24, you can perform a run-in pass (L1 X/LB A), which is an effective way to break the opponent's defense by playing the ball between two players close to each other. The player initiating this action passes the ball to a teammate and then moves forward, signaling he is ready to receive the ball. You can decide whether to pass the ball directly to the feet of the running-in player or to move it a bit forward to an empty field.
Counter attack
An opportunity to do a counter attack occurs when the opponent makes a mistake, loses the ball, or is blocked while trying to dribble, pass, or shoot. The counter is often played on the side sectors of the field, where a long pass can trigger fast players. Of course, you can also try to counterattack through the middle if you have a fast striker and enough space to make a through Pass.
