Darkest Dungeon 2 is a game of moderate difficulty. If you played the first installment of the series, knowing the mechanics of the game will certainly make it easier for you to adjust to the changes compared to the original. However - compared to the first the game, the sequel is much easier. The biggest differences are

1. making the the currency less important,
2. lack of some attribute modifiers (accuracy, enemy defense, easier healing and stress recovery),
3. many options to skip fights.

The new difficulty is the addition of the Relationship system between party members and a more difficult beginning: the need to adapt to the gameplay imposed by the developers (playing with selected heroes, little flexibility in choosing skills).

The most important thing in DD2 is to survive the first Expedition you will embark on after completing the Valley. Don't risk approaching the Lair or the Cultists. If you survive the first Expedition and earn a few Mastery points, you should be doing pretty well for the rest of the chapter.
