Darkest Dungeon 2: Death Darkest Dungeon 2 guide, tips
On this page of the Darkest Dungeon 2 guide, you will learn what happens when characters die and how to prevent it.
Last update: 16 November 2021
This page of the guide covers how to avoid dying by HP loss and explains what Death's Door and Deathblow are.
When one of the characters loses all of their Health, they stand at Death's Door . Each subsequent hit can be fatal, including damage from effects such as Bleed. So this is the last moment for
- healing,
- protecting an ally,
- curing their of negative effects.
However, if you fail to protect your ally from further attacks, they may die . When a character dies, they disappear forever. Their Mastery points and equipment (Combat Items, Trinkets) will also be lost. It is not possible to revive fallen allies during an Expedition .
Anyone facing Death's Door - a protagonist or enemy - will receive Debuff, an attack power penalty of -50%.
When you manage to reach the next Inn, another, randomly selected character will be waiting for you there, (no upgrades). However, the next hero will only appear if you have unlocked more heroes (increasing your Profile level by gaining Hope ). When you start a new Expedition (a new game), you start over with a full set of heroes. You can also abandon an expedition if you decide there is no point continuing the journey, you can leave the expedition at any time - you will receive Hope points for your profile and start playing the chapter anew. We write more about this on the page Quitting an expedition - what are the consequences?
