Types of weaponry and gear in CrossFire | Weapon and gear description CrossFire Guide & Walkthrough
Last update: 21 March 2018
FPS games are difficult to imagine without appropriate loadout, i.e. weapons grenades and gear. This chapter provides all important information on types of weaponry and gear in CrossFire. Additionally, descriptions have been provided with hints that may prove useful and affect your effectiveness in eliminating opponents.
Pistols
Pistols belong to the group of secondary weapons that are the mo9st effective over short and medium distance. Due to low damage dealt and low armor penetration, always try to target the head while shooting, to deal as much damage as possible. Majority of pistols are ineffective over long distance, but there are exceptions (e.g. Anaconda or Desert Eagle), so if you find yourself in such a situation, do not waste your ammo and switch to another, more effective weapon. The interesting thing is that pistols have relatively decent accuracy in movement, if only you take single shots.
- Take single shots.
- Try to conserve ammo and not to shoot blindly.
- Switch to another weapon over long distance.
- If you are armed with a sniper rifle, pistol is your primary weapon for combat over short distance.
Submachine guns
Submachine guns are lightweight guns that are the most effective over short and medium distance. Submachine guns are capable of emptying the magazine very quickly, but you then have to control the reticle and spraying. Moreover, submachine guns can be effective over long distances, but only in single shot mode.
- At close range, conduct continuous fire into the upper part of the opponent's body.
- Over medium distance, fire in single shots, or in short bursts, into the head.
- Do not reload the gun after you have only taken several shots, if there are other opponents around.
- If reload time of your weapon is long and you have to finish out the opponent, use the secondary weapon and reload the submachine gun later on, in safety.
Rifles
Rifles have been divided into three subcategories: assault rifles, sniper rifles and machine guns. the majority of them are fully automatic, thanks to which you can conduct continuous fire until you empty the clip. The only difference here are sniper rifles that fire single rounds, after which they have to be chambered.
Assault rifles are the most common weapon type in Crossfire, and the best ones are AK-47 and M4A1. Assault rifles are perfect at any distance, but you have to remember to compensate for recoil, while firing in longer bursts. To use the potential of these weapons to the utmost, always try to target the head, because the first round always hits the target.
- At short distance, you can fire in long bursts and target the chest, while correcting the reticle travel.
- At medium distance, it is best to fire in single, double shots (especially in the case of AK-47) or in short bursts into the head.
- At long distance, it is best to fire single rounds into the head.
Sniper rifles come equipped with a scope and they are used over medium and long distance. While targeting, it is best to aim to the head, but shots to the chest can be just as effective. In combat over long distance, you can take a convenient vantage point and wait for the target to come within distance. While navigating the map, use the technique of quick zoom and immediate discharge. When you find yourself in a situation, in which the opponent is right next to you, it is best to use a secondary weapon.
- Using sniper rifles requires you to be patient and steady. Set the scope right behind the corner that an opponent may appear behind, thanks to which you can immediately take a shot.
- Use zoom over medium and long distance.
- After you take a shot, hide behind a cover to reload.
- At short distance, you can try a blind aim or switch into the secondary weapon.
Machine guns are heavyweight weapons. They have large clips and high rate of fire. However, they are not that popular, due to the weight and wide spraying.
- Some machine guns require some time before starting to fire, e.g. Gatling Gun.
- It takes a very long time to reload a machine gun, so it is better done in safety.
- To move around the map, switch to the secondary weapon or to the blade.
Shotguns
Shotguns have been divided into automatic and semi-automatic. The majority of them can fire a single buckshot, after which another one is loaded into the chamber. Shotguns have high pellet spraying, as a result of which they are only effective over short distance. Due to the low rate of fire, sometimes you will only be able to take a single shot that may decide your future in the round. If you miss, the opponent will have enough time to take several shots before your shotgun is chambered again.
- At short distance, target the upper part of the body to eliminate the opponent immediately.
- At medium distance, try to aim at the chest, but remember that you will have to fire several times before you kill the opponent.
- Over long distance, switch to the secondary weapon.
Blade weapons
In CrossFire, there is a wide array of blades. Among others, there are knives, axes and even spanners. This type of weapon is effective only in melee, in attacks from behind or surprise attacks.
- If you want to use a blade to eliminate an opponent, you have to sneak up to him.
- Frontal attack on an opponent with an automatic weapon may be fatal.
- Some blade weapons have a longer range than others, e.g. Katana.
Helmet and bulletproof vest
Helmet and bulletproof vest increase your chances of survival in the battlefield. It is always a good idea to wear them, because not only do they absorb some of the damage taken, but also decrease the possibility of death after a single shot to the head. Unfortunately, both of these are available only for RP, i.e. for real-life money.
