Online missions description Watch Dogs 2 guide, walkthrough
Last update: 12 December 2016
From the beginning of the game, you can complete not only main and side missions, but also online ones. They are added randomly and there are always several options available on Marcus' phone so you can choose the one that suits you best. Online missions can be played solo or in co-op with another player - it may be your friend or a random person chosen by the game (the option to search for a second player appears at the beginning of each online mission).
Online missions vary not only with mission objectives but also with difficulty level. Early in the game, try to avoid difficult online missions. You can tackle them once you've gained the Quadcopter and unlock news skills, especially those that provide you with more options of hacking things in your surroundings. Easy and medium difficulty online missions can be completed even before that.
The most common types of online missions are:
- Find and destroy items - scout the area before each such mission. Items can be destroyed using the grenade launcher or by hacking explosive elements in the environment. You could also use Jumper or Quadcopter and place explosive charges, but that's assuming you have the right upgrades.
- Download data from a restricted area - this mission requires Marcus to first reach a point from which he can download the data. Once there, he needs to sit tight until the download is over. You could entrench yourself on that position, but it's better to make it a stealth operation, so you don't have to worry about whether Marcus can last until the download is over, and whether he'll make it out of the restricted area.
- Steal an item or a vehicle from restricted area - depending on the type of mission, you will be requested to steal i.e. data discs or a boat. When stealing vehicles, you'll also have to deliver them to a specific location; of course, your enemies will be hardly pleased with your actions (hacking will help you lose them on the way).
- Free a DedSec member held prisoner in a restricted area - the prisoner will usually be held in a location that needs to be first unlocked by hacking a terminal. The prisoner must be reached physically by a player to be freed (the prisoner will then escape on his own). When in co-op, the second player can buy time by distracting the guards.
