Spearmen are an unusual unit - sporting similar traits to Velites, but specialization-oriented for the phalanx formation. Spearmen phalanx can be destroyed by heavily armored units, while the spearmen themselves tire during intensive attacks, making their phalanx a defensive one. Spearmen do not tire and march forward defeating their opponents - sometimes all they need is a few seconds to eliminate an enemy unit.

Spearmen are armed with long pikes that are not suited to melee combat (unless in the phalanx formation).

1. Nevertheless, take note that aside from the formation they are equipped with the worst traits from any available unit.
2. In opposition to pikemen, spearmen do not fare well when fighting against cavalry if they aren't in the formation.
3. A unit for experienced players only.
4. Choose Miltiades or Alexander the Great as the leader of spearmen. Leonidas' commander skill works in a similar way to Raise Shields - you can utilize both abilities during the battle.

1. Abilities and Attributes

Hoplite Phalanx

Form a phalanx to slowly move forward and deal extensive damage to any unit encountered along the way. Decreases maneuverability and speed.

Raise Shields

The units raise their shields, increasing the chance to deflect enemy projectiles. Decreases speed, field of vision and melee defense.

Thales' Council

Increase the morale and defensiveness of the unit permanently.

Share Wine

Activate to increase the morale of a unit for 10 seconds.

Olympic Trials

Increases the damage dealt and improves melee defense.

Double Rations

Improves the basic attack and defense of a unit and increases morale.

Share Rations (Level 6)

Item: use to increase your defense for 10 seconds.

Whetstones (Level 7)

Item: increases the piercing power of your attacks during melee combat for 10 seconds.
