On this page of our The Medium guide, you will find a walkthrough for the 18th stage of the game, the Basement. Here we have described all the interactions you need to perform while exploring this area. In this sequence, you have to examine several items to move further. You'll also find plenty of secrets to collect in this area.

The code to the secret door

Solving the puzzle with the dolls will open a passage to the basement. This location isn't ruined – you can explore it.

There are many secrets in the basement that you can discover. However, if you want to focus on the plot, you only need to examine two things.

In the left part of the basement you will find a receipt for a pocket watch. There is a date on it – 1976.

The next step is to open the metal cabinet. You will find a pocket watch case. It says it's a tenth anniversary gift.

The code to the door is the wedding date – 1976 - 10. You get the code – 1966.

Go into the hole in the wall. The heroine will easily squeeze through the gap.

You will see a panel – enter the code you have come up with earlier to get through.

Pump station

Go through the secret door – you will end up at the pump station. You need to escape to safety.

There is no power in the room. To activate it, you need energy so you can use the spirit blast.

Turn left and follow the corridor. A skin will block the passage further.

Cut the skin with the razor. This will allow you to move on. Turn left and continue your adventure.

Next, you have to turn right. There you will find a small room where you can gather energy.

Move forward – you will see a path that you cannot follow right now. You need to turn off the power first so you don't get electrocuted.

Eventually, you will reach the control room. However, the device doesn't work. You have to go back to the room with the power source and use the spirit blast.

You can go around, but it will be easier to turn left and open the passage.

When you are at the power source, use the spirit blast. Thanks to it, you will be able to use the device in the control room.

You need to pour the water so that it is stored in the middle and right chambers (as in the screenshot above).

After that, you have to go downstairs. Be sure to replenish your energy along the way. The moths located at the bottom will attack you immediately. You must create a spirit shield to protect yourself.

Then you need to get to the valve and unscrew it. This will enable you to continue with your task.

Go back to the control room. It's time to pour the water into the three chambers on the left (as in the screenshot above).

When you reach the next pipe, you will see that you have no way to unscrew it. You need to find a valve.

You will find it in a metal cabinet. All you have to do is approach it and cut the chains with the bolt cutters.

Take the valve, go to the pipe, place it in the right spot and unscrew it. Then return to the top.

This is the last time you have to do this. Transfer the water so that the middle and right chambers are empty (as in the screenshot above).

Once the water has drained properly, you can go down. The door to the exit stands open, you can finally use it and get out of the room.

Before leaving, use a spirit shield to avoid the moths.

A monster will stand in your way. However, you can very easily avoid it. You need to move to your spirit form. Then run into the small room located on the left.

When the monster runs after your spiritual form, quickly head to the switch next to the door.

Turn on the power to stun the monster. This way you will gain time and be able to escape to the next part.
