As you progress through The Callisto Protocol, you must remember to heal your character after taking damage. On this page of the guide, you will find instructions on what are the main types of medicines available in the game and how to use them. We also explain how to permanently increase the maximum health.
Hero's health bar and healing
In The Callisto Protocol , the hero's health bar does not regenerate automatically. You have to regenerate lost health points on your own and keep an eye on the implant indicator on the protagonist's neck.
Orange color means serious injury, and red color (implant and red screen on the edges) warns you that you are on the verge of death.
The first healing method is picking up a Health Gel. You can find it as loot and on the bodies of defeated enemies. Gel should restore about 1/3 of Jacob's health bar.
Note - Gel doesn't appear in the inventory and cannot be taken for future use.
The second method is to use Healing Injector. They appear as loot and you can usually find them in small boxes on the walls. Alternatively, you can also craft them in Reforges, but this should be a last resort, as you should spend credits on other things. Try to always have at least 1 injector in the inventory.
Additional note - You can't heal quickly with injectors. The injection process is slow - do it only if you're not fighting and there are no monsters around.
Permanently increasing Jacob's health bar
It is possible to increase the maximum number of health points.
At the end of Chapter 3 (Habitat), you'll find the security armor. Jacob will automatically put it on and it will replace the prisoner outfit that the protagonist started with. You should then notice that the implant shows a longer health bar, meaning the hero's vitality has increased.
