How to get Pikachu as the starting Pokemon? Pokemon GO Guide

Last update: 20 July 2016

At the beginning of Pokémon GO each player will play tutorial during which he will have to catch one of three starting Pokémons - Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur - How to get Pikachu as the starting Pokemon? - Pokemons - Pokemon GO Game Guide

At the beginning of Pokémon GO each player will play tutorial during which he will have to catch one of three starting Pokémons - Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur. Fans of the animated series and the ones that years ago played Pokémon Yellow can also try catching the fourth, hidden starting Pokémon - Pikachu.

Once you reach the tutorial in which the previously mentioned three starting Pokémons will appear on the map, don't fight any of them. Instead of that, go in any direction you want (in the real life) in order to move away from the place where the mentioned Pokémons were. Once you move enough away, the three starting Pokémons will appear in your area again.

After repeating the process a few times, Pikachu will appear among the three. Now you must only start the fight with him and catch him. The selection of starting Pokémon isn't actually important - all 4 starters can be obtained in regular way (however, they are rather rare) and the differences between Pokémons in Pokémon GO are limited to their type and CP. You won't feel much difference no matter if you play as Pikachu or as Charmander.

Important - if you want to use this method, you will have to start playing the game from the beginning since you must return to the starting Pokémon selection screen. If you already played the game for a few hours, you can ignore this method - sooner or later you will get Pikachu, and as mentioned before, it isn't very important what type of Pokémon you have.
