Total War: Warhammer 3 Will Get New DLC; Players Complain About Price
A new DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3, titled Shadows of Change, has been announced. Fans are already complaining about its high price.
Quite recently a major expansion was released for Total War: Warhammer III, titled Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs, but Creative Assembly is not slowing down. Today the studio announced a new expansion for the strategy game, Shadows of Change. The DLC will make its debut on August 31, together with update 4.0.
What will the new DLC bring?
The developers have released the first trailer for the Shadows of Change expansion (below). While it doesn't show actual gameplay, we can take a look at the new lords that will be introduced in Total War: Warhammer III as part of the DLC.
Shadows of Change is primarily three new legendary lords.
- The Changeling is a shape-shifting hypocrite who supports the Tzeentch Domain, who can take the form of any lord he comes to face. When not engaged in battle, he hides in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
- Yuan Bo is a jade dragon who rules the central provinces of Grand Cathay. He heads the Court of Celestial Wizards, and can take part in battle in the form of a dragon soaring above the battlefield or a human using spells.
- Mother Ostankya is a witch, and a dedicated guardian of Kislev. She uses her cauldron both on and off the battlefield. Into the game along with the witch will comes a new rare resource, spiritual essence.
In addition, the DLC will introduce a legendary hero (The Blue Scribes of Tzeentch), twelve new units of Tzeentch, Grand Cathay and Kislev factions, and nine new regiments.
The developers assure that in future weeks they will release more information about Shadows of Change.
Fans are not happy
News of the new DLC has not thrilled Total War: Warhammer III fans. Players are complaining primarily about the high price of the expansion - Creative Assembly wants $20 for Shadows of Change (until September 7, the DLC is discounted by 10%).
The only expansion for the third Warhammer, which costs the same as Shadows of Change, was the April's Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs. Fans don't like that the developers have once again decided to price a DLC so high, while offering little new content.
"At first I was interested, but since I saw the price, I'm not anymore. One has to wait until it is reduced by some 50%," Steam user shadow hunter(FIN) writes
"For the first time since the release of Warhammer 1 I've had enough. The price is really outrageous, as is the state of the game - compared to what it offers. Releasing updates every 8-12 weeks is not enough. Totally not worth it," Steam user g0ogol writes
