Fans of Fairy Tail who have been following the latest installment of the series in English may be disappointed, as David Wald, the voice actor for Gajeel, announced that he will no longer be appearing in this anime or any other Crunchyroll project.

In October, the actor informed fans via his X account that if they had sent him anything in the last five years, he had not received it. He claims that Crunchyroll and Funimation illegally opened, removed, and distributed the content of mail addressed to him. Crunchyroll responded to Wald's allegations, assuring that they will investigate the matter and respect the privacy of voice actors by not opening their messages, but forwarding all their mail.

However, it seems that the mail situation was the last straw and Wald will no longer be working with Crunchyroll, hence his adventure as Gajeel in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest has ended. On November 11, the actor informed his fans about the decision and revealed that he plans to disclose more allegations of abuse by the company on his Twitch account.

Friends, I am not returning to Gajeel in FairyTail. I am not returning to the Crunchyroll studio. Their abuses are FAR too numerous to list here. But soon, I will tell you all of them, and I will do that here [on Twitch]. Stay tuned.

The actor in another post on X mentioned "years of abusive practices and a hostile work environment," which convinced him to leave the company. He admitted, however, that fans may still hear him on Crunchyroll in the future, because although he doesn't intend to work directly with them, projects created in cooperation with other studios may end up on the streaming platform.
