The Isle - How to Nest?
Expanded nesting mechanics were introduced to The Isle in the latest update. Here you will learn how to set up a nest and how to care for the eggs.
Creators of The Isle have long experimented with nesting mechanics in their game. Over the years, however, the option has been very limited, and the developers have constantly wondered what it should actually look like.
In the end, however, Afterthought LLC got it right and finalized the entire system. In the latest update, the final and expanded nesting mechanics came to the game. Here you will learn how it actually works.
The Isle - why should we nest?
Introducing a new nesting system into the game is another step toward integrating The Isle community even more closely together. For the nesting itself, of course, you need a partner, which must be another player.
In turn, you will then build the nest and take care of the eggs, from which, after some time, the baby dinosaurs will hatch. These in turn can be (depending on the settings you choose) respawn points for new players.
So you will be taking care of people in groups, who are just starting their next game. In turn, this stage is another segment of gameplay that can guarantee you a completely new experience.
The Isle - how to nest?
Nesting is a rather complex and lengthy process, which, moreover, varies somewhat depending on the species you choose. Below you will find a list of steps that will lead to the hatching of baby dinosaurs.
- The first step to start nesting is, of course, to find a partner. You need to find a player of the same species and opposite sex, who is willing to mate with you.
- Next, you need to conduct a courtship. All you have to do is approach your partner or mate and both of you hold down the appropriate button (N by default). This will trigger a special animation, which varies depending on the selected species. Once the courtship is complete, you will officially be a pair of bonded dinosaurs.
- The next step is to make a nest. There are different types of nests in the game, which affects the process of building them. Many dinosaurs have to use twigs to build them. You will find this out through the icon that will be displayed above your chosen nesting spot. You will have to collect the appropriate number of twigs (found around the selected site), which will then be turned into a nest (e.g., a cocoon or a lair in the form of a mound).
- However, some dinosaurs do not need raw materials to build a nest. You will be able to simply dig a suitable hole in the place of your choice, which will fulfill this role. Also, you will be informed about it with a special icon above the nesting place.
- After building the nest, the female must enter it and lay eggs (by default by holding down the E key).
- Then you need to take care of the eggs. First of all, you must keep them safe by defending them from predators.
- In addition, their temperature must be controlled (its status is shown by a special indicator displayed above the nest). They must not get cold, but too high a temperature is also a problem. So you have to balance between it right. This task varies from dinosaur to dinosaur. Some species can keep the eggs warm by brooding them. Others, on the other hand, must constantly gather new twigs to warm the future offspring.
- Once you have finished incubating the eggs, you can open the nest management panel (you will find it in your character menu). There, in turn, you should choose whether the eggs you are taking care of are private or public. If you choose the first option, only players with a special code will be able to hatch them. If you choose the second option, the eggs can be hatched from any person who chooses them.
- After some time, baby dinosaurs will hatch from the eggs. Your only task from then on is to take care of them. You must keep them safe and provide them with food. In time, they will grow up and be able to go out into the world to have independent adventures.
