Tactical RPG The Dwarves from The Book of Unwritten Tales dev has launched
The Book of Unwritten Tales creators, KING Art Games, have rolled out their new title, a tactical RPG entitled The Dwarves.
The Dwarves, a tactical RPG devoted to the best fantasy race ever (according to some), has launched on PC, just several hours after hitting Xbox One and PlayStation 4. During its first week after the release the game is being offered on Steam with a 10% discount – for $35.99.
Funded on Kickstarter and developed by KING Art Games, who are best known for their adventure series The Book of Unwritten Tales (currently they are also working on the recently announced 1920s-meet-mechs RTS Iron Harvest), The Dwarves is based on a book of the same title by Markus Heitz, a fantasy writer popular in his native Germany. It tells a story of a dwarf leader Tungdill, who makes a stand to defend his kinsmen from hordes of Orcs, Ogres, and Dark Elves.
The Dwarves lets you command a small party of heroes, each with individual skills and weapons, and fight through overwhelming armies of enemies. The game’s mechanics combine elements of tactics and action game – for instance, you can go into an active pause to plan your next action. At the same time, the game uses a physics engine to simulate rag doll effects – you may throw your opponents off a cliff or knock them down on the ground by swinging a hammer.
