The Witcher 4 release no sooner than 2027. Sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 will soon enter the pre-production phase

CD Projekt confirmed that The Witcher 4 won't be released before 2027, and that the team responsible for the remake of the first installment will temporarily work on the game. The studio also spilled the beans about Project Orion, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.

At conference about the CD Projekt Group's financial results for 2024, board members shared several key details about upcoming projects from the CD Projekt Red studio. Piotr Nielubowicz, the CFO of the company, announced that the release of The Witcher 4 is planned only after 2026, which, of course, means that this title won't launch earlier than in 2027 (via Reuters). As an interesting fact, it can be added that detailed speculations by players suggest that the year 2027 will rather be the final release date of the fourth installment.

We are not going to announce the precise launch date for the game yet. ll we could share now to give more visibility to investors is that the game will not be launched within the time frame of the first target for the incentive program, which ends December 31, 2026 - said Nielubowicz.

Furthermore, it was disclosed at the conference that the team behind the remake of the first Witcher, Fool's Theory studio, will temporarily assist with The Witcher 4 development. This could potentially delay the remake (scheduled to launch only after The Witcher 4), but it clearly shows that the upcoming installment of the series is now the studio's priority and is picking up speed.

Project Orion is moving out of the concep phase

Regarding the continuation of Cyberpunk 2077, known as Project Orion, CD Projekt representatives disclosed a promising update - the project will enter the pre-production phase "in the coming weeks" (it was previously in the concept phase).

These details provide insight into the future release timeline for upcoming CD Projekt titles and the company's approach to managing resources and development teams. The Polish company is aiming for 4 billion PLN in net profit in the years 2025-2028. Perhaps the collab announced with the mobile gaming giant - Scopely - will be crucial for these plans.
