Stranglehold - Max Payne-inspired Shooter Back on Sale Thanks to GOG
Thanks to the agreement between GOG and Warner Bros. the 2007 shooter Stranglehold, a continuation of John Woo's action movie Hard Boiled, has returned to sale.
Stranglehold, a 2007 shooter developed by Midway Games, has appeared on GOG. The game is essentially a sequel to the famous Hard Boiled movie. It is worth noting that for some time now the production could not be legally bought anywhere (probably due to the expiry of copyright to some part of it, e.g. music) and returned to sale only thanks to an agreement between GOG.com and Warner Bros. The game can be bought for $10.58.
In Stranglehold, we play the role of a detective named Tequila, played by actor Chow Yun-Fat (known for his Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, etc.). The hero tries to save his loved ones from dangerous criminals, which of course requires the extermination of hordes of enemies in several different cities (Hong Kong, Chicago). John Woo, the director of Hard Boiled, is also responsible for directing the game.
Gameplay reminds us of what we remember from the famous Max Payne series, while watching the action from behind the hero's back, we travel through locations, effectively eliminating new enemies and watching animated cut-scenes from time to time. Gameplay is characterized by a high level of visual spectacularity, although it must be admitted that it does not make such an impression today, as it did a few years ago. All in all, this is a good title, which should provide you with a solid portion of entertainment.
It is worth mentioning that apart from PC, the title was also released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
