All about local and online coop in Enter the Gungeon in 2025
Enter the Gungeon is a great production that would be even better with friends. Here you will learn all you need to know about local and online coop in this game.

Steam sales are a great opportunity to grab the latest releases for a discounted price. However, it is even better to look at some older, but not worse in any way, games that are cheaper than a cup of coffee in Starbucks. It appears that many players turned their heads towards nearly a 10-year-old roguelike – Enter the Gungeon. Even though the title is no longer updated, it sold millions of copies and is spreading by a word of mouth, reaching new heights. It is very cheap now, and compatible with devices like Steam Deck, so it’s a great chance to venture into the Gungeon. Since it’s so accessible, many fans would like to try it out in coop. While the game offers such possibility, it’s limited to only local version of multiplayer. However, there is an easy way around it.
Local and online coop in Enter the Gungeon explained
The community’s interest in cooperation games has peaked recently, partially thanks to productions like astounding Split Fiction or hilarious and scary REPO. As this is the theme of first quarter of 2025, fans expect such an option from other titles, Enter the Gungeon included. While it does feature local coop for 2, it does not offer full-fledged online multiplayer.
The developers explained it in their FAQ. Apparently adding an online option to Gungeon was very hard and would take too long. Especially considering that it is a fast-paced precision game where latency would significantly deteriorate the experience. The technology, however, moved forward allowing to circumvent this limitation by use of Steam’s Remote Play Together.
Despite the fact that there is no official support for online coop, life finds a way and will always do. While it is not ideal, you can still enjoy Enter the Gungeon with your one, favorite friend. Have fun!
