Recently we've received reports about a new South Park game. The game is developed by Question Games, known for creating The Magic Circle and The Blackout Club. The game will offer a multiplayer mode. Such information can be deduced from a job offer published on the studio's website. We can also read there that the project is being created using Unreal Engine 4.
The company is looking for people with experience in developing games for PC as well as Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, so the game is probably heading for these platforms.
It would not come as a surprise to anyone if the studio's new project benefited from the experience that the developers gained while creating The Blackout Club. It is a cooperative horror game in which a group of children explored a town to discover its dark secrets. Of course, in the case of South Park the horror vibe would have to be replaced by a comedy setting.
It is worth mentioning that the information about the new South Park game is nothing new. We knew about it since August last year. Then the creators of the brand - Trey Parker and Matt Stone - signed a contract with ViacomCBS, under which they are to develop a series of animated films for Paramount. The details of this deal also revealed that there are plans for another game set in the town of South Park. Now we just got the first specific information about this project.
In recent years we received several notable games based on this license. In 2014, it was the excellent RPG South Park: The Stick of Truth by Obsidian Entertainment, and three years later we got an equally successful sequel (this time developed by Ubisoft's internal team), namely South Park: The Fractured But Whole. The mobile South Park: Phone Destroyer was a bit less noteworthy.
The new South Park game seems to be in good hands. Question Games was founded by the industry veterans who previously worked on South Park: The Stick of Truth and South Park: The Fractured But Whole, as well as BioShock, BioShock 2, BioShock Infinite, and Dishonored.
