PSN cancels South Park: Fractured But Whole pre-orders

If you have pre-ordered the PlayStation 4 version of South Park: Fractured But Whole check your wallet for the money refund. That's right, PSN decided to cancel pre-orders for the game.

A NeoGAF user reported today that his pre-order for the PlayStation 4 version of South Park: Fractured But Whole has been canceled and the money refunded to him. This was accompanied by an e-mail from the PlayStation Network team, which explained:

We recently informed you that there is no new confirmed release date for South Park [Fractured But Whole] and unfortunately we are still unable to confirm a release date. Therefore we have regrettably decided to cancel and refund your pre-order, however, we’re pleased to tell that you are able to keep the copy of South Park: The Stick of Truth for free.

C’mon, boys, tell us the truth. Have you got yourselves in trouble again?

This is not the first time this is happening – players before have reported their South Park: Fractured But Whole pre-orders refunded by PSN. It’s also impossible to pre-purchase the game in PlayStation Store anymore. However, the title is still available in Xbox Marketplace and Steam.

While it’s surely nice to get the first game for free, the real question fans now surely ask is what is actually happening with the sequel? South Park: Fractured But Whole was originally announced to launch last December, but then it was delayed twice: first to Q1 2017 and then to Ubisoft’s next fiscal year, which is a broad time window spanning from this April to March 2018. Is this just a PSN’s move to care for their customers or did the game run into a stone wall?
