South Park: The Fractured But Whole delayed to Ubisoft's next fiscal year
South Park: The Fractured But Whole won't be coming out in the first quarter of 2017. Ubisoft decided to push the game back once more, this time to their next fiscal year ending on March 31, 2018.
After its last missed release date, which was December 6, 2016, South Park: The Fractured But Whole has been pushed to Q1 2017. Now, that time window has been moved to Ubisoft’s next fiscal year, i.e. from April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018. The game will likely come out closer to that earlier date, but it’s still a bit vague, isn’t it? Of course, the team at Ubisoft San Francisco will use the extra time “to deliver the best experience possible”. Obviously. Whatever its final launch date turns out to be, the plan is to release South Park: The Fractured But Whole simultaneously on all three platforms: PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
This delay was one of the reasons for Ubisoft adjusting their sales expectations for the current fiscal year from €1.61–1.67 billion to €1.455–1.495 billion, which is about a dozen million dollar drop. This may suggest that the company has pretty high expectations for the game. About this time last year Ubisoft revealed that the previous installment in the RPG series based on the popular animated TV show for adults sold 5 million copies since its release in early 2014.
