PUBG Mobile Becomes Best Earning Mobile Game of 2020

PUBG Mobile is making money like there's no tommorow and is not going to slow down. Tencent's game has already pulled $2.6 billion out of players' pockets and is now the best earning mobile game of 2020.

In September, we informed, that PUBG Mobile earned as much as five times more than Fortnite i.e. $1.8 billion. If you thought that this amount was astronomically high, I advise to sit down before you hear the next data. The end of the year was extremely successful for Tencent and PUBG Mobile has already earned $2.6 billion.

People who are not interested in the topic may be unaware of how much PUBG Mobile influences the market. According to the latest data from the Sensor Tower analytisc website, PUBG Mobile is the best earning mobile game in the world, having generated revenues of $2.6 billion across 2020. It is worth adding that this amount also includes the special Chinese version of PUBG called Game for Peace. This means an increase of 64.3% compared to last year. Second place is taken by another Tencent title - Honor of Kings - with a result of 2.5 billion dollars, and after there a long gap, because games such as Pokemon GO (1.2 billion dollars), Coin Master (1.1 billion) or Roblox (1.1 billion) earned less than half of what the titles of the Chinese giant did.

To hit such a mythical outfit (with a red lining) you need a lot of luck or a lot of money.

Many factors contributed to such an excellent result of the world's most popular mobile battle royal game. First of all, PUBG Mobile has a very interesting payment model - all weapons and upgrades can be acquired by playing and completing in-game missions. To unlock them, we don't have to spend a single dollar, and the process itself is rather simple and does not require excessive grind. Add to that a lot of unique modes and maps, as PUBG Mobile has long been more than just a battle royale. It offers team deathmatches, capturing bases in domination mode, fast-paced arcade matches, and much more. In addition (although it may seem obvious) Tencent's game is very extensive for a mobile game and has very nice visuals - unlike the mindless clickers that flood Google Play and App Store,PUBG Mobile can be said to be a real game and can convince even more hardcore players.

However, the real strength of Tencent's title are cosmetic elements - hundreds of thousands of different, more or less colorful objects. Personalization is almost everywhere. There are skins for weapons, helmets, backpacks, vehicles, parachutes, or even straps that are dangling behind our backs. And we have a whole bunch of unique outfits of varying degrees of rarity. Most of these things come from packs with random contents (paid or free).

There are many possibilities to spend money here, and virtual currency is not cheap...

Playing PUBG Mobile is also not among the cheapest entertainments (if we want to get fully involved in what the devs offer us). In order to enjoy as many cosmetic elements as possible, every season (lasting eight weeks) we can buy a pass called "Royale Pass", which enables us to unlock items that are not available anywhere else (even in special, paid packages). The cost of such a pass is $11 for the basic version or $33 for the "Elite Pass Plus". However, we should remember that if we play PUBG Mobile regularly, we won't have to spend so much money every month, because for completing certain missions the game rewards us with a virtual currency (UC), for which we can buy another "Royale Pass" at no extra cost.

Given the crazy pace of revenue increase and the very large amount of content that is regularly added to the game, it is expected that PUBG Mobile will continue to grow in strength and generate even more money.
