Just over two weeks ago we celebrated the third anniversary of Playerunknown's Battlegrounds version 1.0. Although the current fame of this online battle royale shooter cannot compare to the turn of 2017 and 2018, it still has quite a large player base. However, it is possible that the popularity of the game developed by PUBG Corp. will soon rise again. Why? Well, an internet user known as PlayerIGN, who publishes news and rumors about Playerunknown's Battlegrounds has posted on their Twitter profile a translation of an info made available a few weeks ago on the website of Korean economic channel MTN. According to it, the company KRAFTON, founded by Bluehole, which own PUBG Corp., among others, has been preparing a full-fledged sequel of PUBG since about the first half of 2019 . It is to appear on PCs and unspecified consoles.
That is not all. Also PUBG Mobile is to receive a sequel, which previously functioned as the mysterious XTRM project. The game is to be developed by a team led by Park Min-gyu, which previously worked on PUBG Lite among other titles. It is worth noting that, according to PlayerIGN, there should be a possibility of cross-play competition between PC and console players, and those playing on smartphones or tablets.
What's important is that Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene is not involved in the production of both titles. He is currently working on a new game called prologue. You will find more about it in this news.
Of course, these are only unofficial reports. For their confirmation we have to wait for the official announcement of Playerunknown's Battlegrounds 2 and PUBG Mobile 2, whose appearance, as we can deduce from the information provided on MTM's website, should be a matter of weeks or months to come.
