PUBG Expects Survival Mode With Zombies and Crafting [Update]
The developers of PUBG: Battlegrounds are teasing a new gameplay mode in which a team of four players will try to survive in a world overrun by zombie-like clones.
Update
PUBG has launched an event (because it's what the developers had in mind a few days ago) called Survivors Left Behind. It will last until November 6, midnight. Details about it can be found below and in the official message on Steam.
Original post (October 16)
Popular online shooter PUBG: Battlegrounds will soon add a new gameplay mode.
- The developers have released a teaser to turn up the heat before the official announcement of the new mode.
- The video shows that we'll be playing on a reworked version of the urban map called Haven, where clones bred for testing have been transformed into bloodthirsty monsters resembling zombies in behavior.
- Four players will take on the role of the last surviving units sent on a mission to clean up the mess. Their task will be to survive and find a way to escape.
- The mode will put a strong emphasis on survival elements. Players will have to search for food and resources, which they will use for the crafting system
All this sounds very interesting. The mode sounds a bit like a return to its roots, as the developer of PUBG, Brendan Greene, first gained fame with the Battle Royale mod for DayZ. The gameplay in the new mode, however, will be more focused on cooperation than in DayZ through four-player team play, bringing to mind other cooperative shooters such as Left 4 Dead.
PUBG: Battlegrounds is available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and the game uses a F2P model with microtransactions. At the same time, PUBG Mobile is active, but we don't know if the game will also receive a new mode.
