PUBG Roadmap 2024. Dev Announced a Mountain of Changes and Improvements
The developers of the free-to-play PUBG: Battlegrounds are scheduling a number of major changes and improvements to the production for 2024. The popular online shooter will, among other things, switch to Unreal Engine 5.
For fans of PUBG: Battlegrounds, 2024 looks pretty promising. The KRAFTON studio responsible for the game shared today its very detailed plans for the coming months. Players can expect significant changes in gameplay, graphics, and the ranked mode, in addition to new skins and items.
More intense immersion in PUBG
Free PUBG will undergo several important, even groundbreaking changes, which are primarily intended to enhance immersion.
- A system of environmental destruction will be introduced. Players will be able to destroy buildings and terrain elements on the map, enhancing the strategic aspect of the game. Some of these features will be coming to PUBG as part of the April update.
- Character behavior controlled by AI will be more realistic. They are supposed to adapt to the skill level of the players.
- The devs aim to introduce new items that will impact transportation and the looting system in the game, including a portable zipline.
Players will definitely experience the mentioned changes during matches, but another important element will also impact the experience. PUBG will switch to Unreal Engine 5 (so far the game used Unreal Engine 4), leading to various improvements, including better graphics. Thanks to this groundbreaking decision, the developers will be able to offer a service called "User Generated Content," enabling fans to create their own content. So we'll probably get something like Fortnite's Creative Mode.
Changes in online gameplay
Developers also want to satisfy "hardcore" fans.
- The matchmaking system will be improved, which primarily aims to "match" people with similar skill levels and connection stability.
- Ranked games will become "more attractive," as they will offer new rewards for winning. Furthermore, the ranking point calculation system will be altered, making kills more significant.
- The so-called "gunplay" is to be improved - updates to weapon balance will appear once every two months.
Remaining plans
In addition, in 2024 to PUBG:
- the devs will add a new game mode, placing great emphasis on team cooperation;
- the clan system and the obtaining of skins for weapons will be developed;
- new items will arrive as part of future collaborations.
It's also worth mentioning that the developers are still improving the Anti-Cheat system. Over 3 million cheater accounts were banned last year (33% more than in 2022), and the fight against people using cheats will continue. You will learn more about it here.
