PS5 Activities - New Information on Console-Game Interactions
A message appeared on Gamereactor, including information about the Activities feature on PS5. The website with the news was removed, but it did not escape the attention of users.
New information about the Activities feature on PlayStation 5 has been released by Gamereactor. The message was unfortunately deleted, but Twitter users noticed it and pasted a screenshot of the relevant text. All content is available in the archive.
This news is related to WRC 9, which is soon to be released on PS4 and PC. Virtual races are also expected to appear in an improved version on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The piece of news on Gamereactor mentions the Activities feature to appear in the new console.
"Also as a free update for those who get WRC 9 on either PS4 or Xbox One, the game will upgrade to the next-gen versions on PS5 or Xbox Series X, and we're looking forward to seeing how performance, graphics, or features such as PS5's Activities feature (an instant deeplink to specific races directly from the console's menu) reveal the future of rally racing."
This is a function that is to be available in the main menu of the console and can directly run certain activities in the game (in this case the rally). A little more about this can be read on TheSixtAxis. There was quoted a fragment of an interview (unfortunately no longer available) for Gamereactor Spain by Game Director Alan Jarniou and product manager Sébastien Waxin.
"WRC 9will implement fully asynchronous and optimized loading, using the new super-fast SSD memories so that the players get behind the wheel in no time, while the function of the PlayStation 5 Activities system will propose instant ‘deeplink’ links from the start menu to directly access races or parts of the game"
It is worth noting that this is a English translation (made by TheSixthAxis) from Spanish, in which the now deleted footage was recorded. This information should thus be approached with caution. Although direct access to game elements was written about a few months ago.
