Hollow Knight: Silksong in 2025? Steam and GeForce Now metadata updates spark new speculation about a sequel to the indie hit
The data from Steam and GeForce Now has raised gamers' hopes for a second Hollow Knight. Could it be that fans waiting for Silksong are about to throw the clown costumes in the trash?

New reports may confirm that Hollow Knight: Silksong is close. In any case, something has moved forward regarding the continuation of one of the best metroidvanias of the last decade.
The second game from Team Cherry studio may be associated with Grand Theft Auto 6 - at least when it comes to the mood of the fans. While Rockstar fans are eagerly searching for teasers of the sixth GTA, those anticipating the second Hollow Knight tend to make bitter jokes about the absence of updates from the Australian developer (aside from very vague mentions of ongoing work... or not-very-serious ones). Or defeating the same boss every day until the game is released.
Nevertheless, sometimes more serious reports appear (for the low standards of fans accustomed to "silkposts"). Now players have noticed that Silksong has been added to Nvidia GeForce Now catalog (via Reddit / ResetEra).
Moreover, Steam's database confirms the changes made to the second Hollow Knight's card on Valve's platform. Most of them are a kind of date update, but it should be noted that these modifications are from 2019/2023 to 2025. This section has been updated for the first time since 2019 (via SteamDB / Knoebel on X).
Nintendo Direct in April? Release in June?
The fans' reactions were as mixed as in the case of previous leaks. Skepticism, justified after over 8 years since the announcement of Silksong, is mixed with hope that Team Cherry is finally ready to remind the world of their game—preferably with a trailer featuring the release date.
Just like during the cookie speculations, now too, the fans' eyes are turning towards the next edition of the Nintendo Direct show. The Japanese haven't yet confirmed either the presentation or the presence of indie games in the stream (contrary to what a certain "silkpost" suggests).
The show is scheduled for April 2, but it will focus on the new console of the Japanese company. Relatively credible reports suggest another showcase on Wednesday, March 26, although we can doubt whether Nintendo would organize 2 "Directs" within a week (via Reddit).
Some also point to another date as the potential release date for the second HK: June 2025. This information was shared by Extas1s, a Spanish insider, as the date supposedly set by Team Cherry for Microsoft to release the game (via Reddit). To the "concern" of players worried about how this will affect the credibility of the insider - which says a lot about the mood of fans waiting for Silksong.
Nonetheless, many players still don't put away their clown costumes - although some complain that they have run out of makeup or that they never take it off at all. Let's hope that fans will be able to throw their wigs and red noses into the bin by June. Or at least until the end of 2025.
