'No Rest for the Wicked Is Like Our Lord of the Rings.' Thomas Mahler Talks About Ambitions and Future of His Biggest Game
The CEO of Moon Studios revealed more information about the future of No Rest for the Wicked. The developer compared his game to Lord of the Rings and said that it will be developed for years to come.
The action RPG No Rest for the Wicked hit early access over a week ago. Many gamers have already had the chance to test out this title from the devs of the popular Ori series and have shared their thoughts and questions with Moon Studios' CEO, Thomas Mahler, who responded to them with a post on X.
The developer strongly denied that he would abandon the title after the release of version 1.0. As he points out, it will be just the opposite. The studio has future development plans for the game and has already produced a significant amount of new content that we haven't heard about yet.
The developer compared No Rest for the Wicked to The Lord of the Rings. Specifically, the full version of the game is intended to be the equivalent to the first installment of the trilogy - The Fellowship of the Ring. After this episode, there were still many adventures in Middle-earth, and it is supposed to be the same with the discussed RPG action.
No Rest for the Wicked is like our Lord of the Rings. And to further use this analogy, what we've done so far is akin to doing a 'test screening' of the first bits. 1.0 will be our Fellowship of the Ring. And as you all know, there's lots to come after that -- said Thomas Mahler.
The developer then clearly stated that the development of No Rest for the Wicked would last for the next 5-10 years. This project is intended to be a kind of "opus magnum" for Moon Studios and contribute to the development of the entire action RPG genre.
It's also worth adding that in the next post, Mahler listed the most urgent things to improve in the game - among the priorities is inventory management. Additionally, he asked players to leave a positive review for No Rest for the Wicked on Steam.
Since we're talking about reviews, the title is well rated by Steam users. It has almost 20,000 reviews, with 77% expressing positive opinions about it.
