More people than ever before play Arma Reforger. Revolutionary installment of ultra-realistic military shooter gets revival
The number of Arma Reforger players is growing regularly, and yesterday the title reached a new record for activity. This is linked to the game's release on PS5 in mid-December.
The Arma series enjoys considerable popularity among a certain group of gamers, but it has a less-liked installment titled Reforger. This is a side project, serving as a kind of test for the new engine before the release of Arma 4. It wasn't as successful as the other parts, and the number of active players dropped rapidly after its release. Now, however, the situation looks completely different, and more people are playing Reforger than ever before.
"Arma Reforger is seeing a major resurgence"
Let's remind that the title was released in Early Access in May 2022 and at its best moment attracted 12,342 players in front of the screens, despite many issues. However, the daily number of players quickly dropped to several hundred, and even the release of version 1.0 didn't help much. Noticeable changes became visible in April last year, but it wasn't until December that Reforger really began to thrive. The title reached a new record of 12,547 simultaneous players yesterday.
The rise in player numbers is linked to the game's launch on PS5 and the addition of the crossplay feature. We don't have data from the console, but we can assume that fresh blood encouraged the return of old veterans. On the same day, Reforger also received an update that added the option for Soviet and American factions to equip assault rifles with silencers, increased the rendering range of grass, and improved the queue system.
The situation was commented on X by Marek Spanel, the CEO of Bohemia Interactive studio, who didn't hide his satisfaction.
