‘We Pissed Someone Off’, says ArmA Reforger lead dev. Internal error and server issues likely caused by DDoS attacks
‘No connection with backend’, ‘Session error’, and other server issues. ArmA Reforger are being DDoS’d.

The ArmA series by Bohemia Interactive has evolved into one of the most immersive tactical shooters available. While ArmA 3 remains the fan favorite, ArmA Reforger initially launched as a tech demo for ArmA 4, has gained significant interest thanks to lots of updates and a focus on community feedback. And with increasing attention often come unexpected challenges.
UPDATE: A group of hackers has claimed responsibility for the DDoS attacks on ArmA Reforger, with DayZ servers also being targeted. Find out more in our latest story.
How player growth brings both success and unforeseen troubles
The lead dev of ArmA Reforger, Klamacz, recently shared the game's active concurrent players per day on X:
Daily Active Users by Platform, Sunday 26th Jan 2025
PC - 96060 players
PS5 - 80090 players
Xbox - 49830 players
Shortly after, ArmA Reforger servers ran into some technical issues, and players began reporting the problem, only to later find out from another post by Klamacz:
I think we pissed someone off so much that we are getting ddos’d
Our people are fighting, stay tuned
From the moment the game gained popularity, these issues have been popping up pretty regularly. Some fans believe the game's servers have been targeted since day one, with DDoS attacks happening frequently over the past few years. They think it's probably not Bohemia Interactive behind these technical problems, but more likely some frustrated players – maybe annoyed by ArmA Reforger’s success, disliking the game, or having a personal issue with a server admin. At this point, anything is possible, even players just trolling for fun.
The good thing is that while some people are constantly asking, ‘Are the servers down?’, others are recognizing the situation and showing the devs some positive support from the community.
