No Man’s Sky is back with a new update. Worlds Part 2 is a follow-up to Worlds Part 1 released in July 2024 (who would have expected that). This time developers added engine enhancements, new quests and additional minerals. Among new resources, you will find Quartzite and Activated Quartzite. So, how to get them?

How to get Quartzite and Activated Quartzite in NMS

Quartzite and Activated Quartzite are closely related to gas giants, a new type of planets added in the Worlds Part 2. However, you have to unlock them first. How to do it? You need to complete the new questline, and travel to purple star systems. We have prepared a separate guide on that, if you want more details. Once you have access to the new worlds, you can start searching for the minerals:

  1. Quartzite is most commonly located on the moons orbiting gas giants.
  2. Activated Quartzite, on the other hand, is always found on the surface of the gas giants.

Unfortunately, there is a bug that makes it difficult to extract these materials. If you want to use Mineral Extractors to get the resource, there is a chance that mining will not start. In that case, there are two scenarios – the machine will falsely inform that it is full, before Quartzite extraction even starts or the process will theoretically begin but storage and extraction rate will not be working properly. Right now, there is no solution to this issue. So, you must be patient and wait for future patches. For now, the best way to work around this bug is to get Quartzite and Activated Quartzite manually.
