We are now just less than two weeks away from the release of Mortal Kombat 1, the latest installment of NetherRealm Studios' hit fighting game series. Currently, we are even flooded with information and materials from the game. The latest news concerns the return of a long-forgotten fighter.

  1. The devs revealed that Nitara will be among the playable female fighters.
  2. Nitara is a vampire who made her debut in 2002's Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. The last part of the series, in which we could play as this female warrior, was Mortal Kombat: Armageddon from 2006. Mortal Kombat 1 will thus represent the great return of this character after seventeen years.
  3. In addition to revealing Nitara's presence in the game, NetherRealm also announced that actress Megan Fox will provide the character's voice.

The video released on this occasion shows cutscenes and some gameplay footage with Nitara. The video also includes statements from the actress, including her joking comment that the character's vampiric nature is close to her, a reference to the rituals in which Fox and her partner Machine Gun Kelly drank drops of each other's blood. Incidentally, this is not the only activity of the actress related to the games. A few months ago she encouraged dying in a commercial for Diablo IV.

It is worth mentioning that recently a screen shot showing the game's character selection screen leaked online. Among the fighters was a female warrior that fans thought was Nitara, and now we know that they were right.

Mortal Kombat 1 is heading to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. The release is scheduled for September 19, this year.
