NASA Overjoyed After Perseverance Lands and Sends First Images From Mars

The Perseverance rover landed in the Jezero crater on Mars yesterday. The device began sending first images from the planet's surface.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. The Perseverance rover touched down on Mars yesterday;
  2. The device has already sent back first images from the Red Planet.

Yesterday, the Perseverance rover, sent by the US space agency NASA to Mars, landed in theJezero impact crater. The actual landing maneuver lasted only seven minutes (the entire process, from disconnecting from the transport module, took several dozen), but was the culmination of many years of work by a large team of experts. It is hardly surprising that the success caused enormous joy.

Perseverance will have a year to perform an extremely important mission - it is to look for traces of organic life on the Red Planet. The device will perform various measurements - including examining of chemical and mineral composition of the surface and dust in the atmosphere, wind speed and direction, pressure, humidity and temperature. What's more, the rover took with it an experimental device converting CO2 to oxygen.

In addition, the device is equipped with microphones and several different cameras and we already have the first results of the work of the latter, which are published on ... Perseverance's account on Twitter.
