Thanks to diligent work, Sean Murray and his team at Hello Games revived No Man’s Sky. It has received a new life like a phoenix from the ashes, but they didn’t stop there. The title is being constantly developed, even 9 years after its debut. Despite working on another project, Light no Fire, they are still pouring love into NMS, enriching it with new, free updates. The most recent one, Worlds Part 2, adds more variety, technology, and gameplay mechanics. If you would like to delve into the freshly added parts of the galaxy, here you will learn how to start the new quest, find gas giants and other new planets in purple star systems.

Starting Worlds Part 2 questline in NMS explained

While the next Expedition 17 Titan is not yet upon us, many fans are already looking for clues how to start it and information about the new ship – The Wraith. As we still have to wait for it a bit more, we can begin exploring the revamped corners of the universe added in World Part 2 update. However, to begin the new adventure, you have to satisfy a couple of conditions first:

  1. Completing Atlas and Artemis Paths,
  2. Finishing Autophage questline (starting with They who returned mission).

After completing these quests, you should now be able to encounter a mysterious entity while warping to any system. It’s hard to miss – an orb-shaped mechanical structure with purple hue. Interact with it to start the new mission entitled “In Stellar Multitudes”.

Finding gas giants and purple star systems in NMS

To get to freshly added gas giants, you have to follow the primary storyline up until the point where you will gain access to Atlas Station. There you will be able to create your own purple star system. Depending on memory decisions that you make, the system that is about to spawn will have different planets. One of the possibilities includes gas giants.

Following the main quest and acquiring the Atlantid Drive, you will be able to travel to the new purple system. In case the world that you have available is not a gas giant, do not worry, as down the line, with completion of the main questline, you will unlock a lot more of those, and one of them will definitely feature the place of your desire.

As you can see, the main part about discovering the new content is patience. With time and completing the mission objectives, you will eventually reach everything that there is to see. Have fun!
