The latest rumors suggest that the announcement of the new installment of Silent Hill is to take place this summer. A well-known development studio from Japan is allegedly working on the title.
- VGC reports that a Japanese studio is working on a new Silent Hill;
- The game is expected to be announced this summer.
After yesterday's news that Bloober Team may be working on a new instalment of Silent Hill, the discussion on the future of Konami's brand flared up once again. VGC has reached out to insiders and reported that the Japanese publisher has indeed commissioned the development of Silent Hill IP, but to a Japanese developer.
According to VGC, the studio to work on the title is very well known, which momentarily reminded people of the rumors from a few months ago. The announcement of the new Silent Hill would take place this summer, which may suggest the E3 trade show or Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest.
It is worth noting, however, that in the information provided by VGC there is no direct statement that Bloober has not been engaged to work on the development of Konami's brand. The insiders do not rule it out, pointing out that the Japanese publisher has opened up for cooperation with other studios and there may actually be one more game under the Silent Hill banner in the pipeline.
What's interesting, at one time Supermassive Games proposed to create a licensed horror game for Konami, but in the end nothing came out of the deal and on the ruins of that prototype, the devs created the horror game series Dark Pictures.
