Star Citizen is without a doubt an ambitious game, which causes many problems. Long development is one of them. However, we can’t say that the project is abandoned game. On the contrary, it is still being improved and developed. A few hours ago, Alpha 4.0 was released, introducing new content. Because of that, many players decided to return to SC or even start their adventure for the first time. Some of them see error code 2000 during installation. If you experience this too, we have a fix.

How to fix error code 2000 in Star Citizen

  1. Uninstall Star Citizen and remove all its files. Remember that you can download the launcher from the official site. It is best for the game and launcher to be installed on the same drive.
  2. Create manually a folder called StarCitizen (without space), where the launcher will be kept. It is best to do it on your C drive (it is not required, though).
  3. In the StarCitizen folder, manually create a subfolder named the same as the version you want to play, for example LIVE / EPTU or 4.0_PREVIEW. Next, install the game in it.
  4. Run the launcher as administrator. Remember that you can change the default installation folder by clicking on the gear icon (next to the Game Environment) and picking game settings.

After doing the above, the game should work. If it is not the case for you, you can disable your monitor status if you have one from a third party (not Microsoft). Some people also inform that turning on/off VPN helped them, too. Keep in mind, though, that using VPN may be restricted/illegal in your country. You do it at your own risk.
